Microsoft's defense against Google is - Google?

Google complained to the Feds recently that the new version of Internet Explorer unfairly favors Microsoft’s search engine because the default search is MSN’s. Of course, the default search in Firefox, Safari and Opera is Google. Google might even pay Dell to install the Google toolbar by default. As the Motley Fool aptly says - Pot. Kettle. Black.

Moreover, Google is undermining its own case. In antitrust, market share is important. But Google has been promoting Firefox on its front page. So they’re building market share for a non-IE browser on one hand, then complaining that IE dominates the market and is unfairly favoring MSN on the other. Their antitrust argument is stronger the lower Firefox’s share.

Michael Zimmer has some more discussion.
